Maggie's First Week Home

Maggie Grace turns 2 weeks old on Friday! So far, everyone is adjusting really well. Little Borden has his "mommy" moments, but overall he loves his baby sister so much. Most of the time he ignores her, but each day he has started acknowleding her presence a little more. He likes to kiss her and point out all her parts....eyes, nose, feet, mouth ect. The other day he wanted her to play "gof" with him and handed her the golf club. This morning I let him help me give her a bath. Bless his little heart.... he tried so hard to be a helpful big brother, but he couldnt resist splashing her! It was pretty funny. She didnt seem to mind it though. Maggie is a really sweet laid back baby. She eats around the clock during the day, but will give me about 3 hours at a time at night, so Im not complaining. She is a good sleeper and only fusses when we change her diaper. I still can't believe Im the mommy of 2 now! Its crazy a lot of the time, but I'm loving every minute of it. It goes by so fast and I want to savor every sweet moment of these baby years. No matter how many frusturating days I have, there always seems to be a sweet smile & kiss that makes all those times go away. I love being a mommy!!

We finally met our sweet Margaret Grace on June 12 at 1:10 a.m! After resigning myself to being pregnant for another week, we were very excited when I started having contractions on Thursday morning. They started off few and far between, so I thought they were just false labor contractions. I had been having false labor for weeks, so I wasn't getting my hopes up. We went on with our day and went to the pool, ate lunch, had a visit from my friend Jena and went to my parents house for dinner. By the time we sat down for dinner my contractions were getting so strong I couldn't sit down. We decided "it was time" and headed to the hospital. The contractions all of the sudden went from 7 min to 2 min apart. We got to the hospital around 9 p.m. and Maggie was in my arms by 1:10 a.m!! It was an amazing experience. I felt like we blinked and she was here. I guess its true about those second babies coming fast.

We had to stay in the hospital for 48 hrs. because I was Group Strep B positive (which is something very common in pregnancy) and I wasn't able to get the full 2 doses of antibiotics during labor. They had to keep us there to monitor Maggie to make sure she didnt get sick from the GBS. It's very rare that babies contract this virus, but they have to take precautions. I wasnt complaining though and took full advantage of the extra help in the hospital.

We finally got home late afternoon Sunday and introduced Maggie to her new home. Big brother Borden is slowly warming up to her. He liked her more in the hospital because once she got home he realized she wasn't going anywhere. He started to act out a little bit, but some of its just normal toddler behavior. He still gives her sweet kisses and will point to her and say Maggie. We are all recovering and getting to know each other and each day gets easier. Its crazy around here, but I LOVE having 2 kids. I can't wait for the day they can play together! Maggie is such a sweet and VERY easy baby. I could tell a difference in her demeanor in the womb. She was much calmer than Borden and so far its the same outside of my tummy. She is so laid back! Its hard to tell who she looks like, but I kind of think she looks like daddy Borden. She has a lot of dark hair, which I think will turn lighter, but who knows. Genes are a wierd thing....look at my family haha!
